Role
We are seeking a Head of Market Data to own and drive our market data strategy, systems, and processes across global markets. This role is pivotal in ensuring our market data architecture is optimized for accuracy, performance, and scalability while aligning with our broader business and trading goals. You will lead a high-performing team and manage vendor relationships, data governance, and infrastructure to support advanced algorithmic trading strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Data Strategy: Define and execute the market data strategy, ensuring alignment with the firm’s trading operations and growth plans.
- Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with market data vendors, exchanges, and alternate data providers to acquire optimal datasets.
- Data Acquisition and Delivery: Oversee the acquisition, validation, and normalization of real-time and historical market data from multiple sources.
- Performance and Scalability: Optimize market data systems to ensure high performance, low latency, and scalability for trading teams globally.
- Data Governance: Develop and implement robust governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with exchange policies.
- Collaboration: Partner with traders, quants, and developers to understand data requirements, ensure timely access, and support strategy development.
- Architecture and Infrastructure: Build, oversee, and enhance systems for managing large-scale time series data, incorporating best practices for cost and performance optimization.
- Historical Data Capture and Storage: Design, develop, and maintain systems for the acquisition, storage, and retrieval of historical market data from multiple financial exchanges, brokers, and market data vendors.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Manage and mentor a market data team, driving operational excellence and innovation.
- Compliance: Monitor and enforce adherence to market data policies and regulations globally.
Requirements
What We Look For In You
- 10+ years of experience in market data management or analysis, preferably within a high-frequency trading (HFT) or algorithmic trading environment.
- Deep expertise in market data providers (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv, CME, Nasdaq), exchange APIs, and market data protocols (ITCH, FIX, etc.).
- Strong technical proficiency in time-series data architecture, ETL pipelines, and distributed systems.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize data systems for low-latency, high-throughput environments.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and familiarity with other programming languages like Go or Rust.
- Experience working with alternate and unstructured datasets.
- Experience in data governance frameworks and ensuring compliance with global market data regulations.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving data projects end-to-end.
- Exceptional problem-solving, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
