Role
We are seeking a seasoned and technically proficient Head of Predictive Trading to lead our machine learning quantitative research initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in machine learning pipelines, an understanding of trading strategies, and a proven track record in managing teams in a high-performance environment such as a technology firm or hedge fund.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a quantitative research team focused on machine learning applications in trading.
- Provide mentorship to team members, fostering technical growth and collaboration.
- Design and build robust machine learning pipelines, specifying infrastructure needs at a granular level, including server-side requirements (e.g., core memory latency, GPU specifications).
- Architect a comprehensive library of features, predictors, and trading signals to optimize multi-horizon strategies across diverse asset classes.
- Drive innovation by researching and implementing advanced machine learning techniques, including advanced statistics, neural networks, and non-linear modeling approaches.
- Establish and maintain efficient research processes, enabling large-scale simulations on signal libraries.
- Conduct rigorous backtesting and validation of models to ensure robustness, profitability, and alignment with trading objectives.
- Collaborate closely with quant research groups and trading teams to translate technical requirements into actionable trading strategies.
- Monitor and continuously refine the performance of predictors and the overall trading framework.
- Provide strategic insights to traders, enabling effective integration of predictive models into decision-making processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing teams in machine learning quantitative research, preferably in technology firms or large hedge funds.
- Strong expertise in building and optimizing machine learning infrastructure, with a deep understanding of technical requirements.
- Advanced technical skills in statistics, mathematics, and programming, with a particular focus on Python. Proficiency in additional languages like C++ or Rust is a plus.
- Expertise in feature engineering, hyperparameter optimization, and monetization of forecasts.
- Ability to technically architect machine learning pipelines and extract alpha signals across diverse trading strategies.
- Solid understanding of trading strategies, particularly in HFT (High-Frequency Trading) or MFT (Medium-Frequency Trading), with a proven PnL track record.
- Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Physics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience specifying technical infrastructure needs, including core memory, latency, and GPU configurations.
- Expertise in building a feature library factory and running large-scale simulations.
- Proven track record of developing profitable trading strategies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
